We are a non-profit charitable organization
committed to making our communities healthier and happier for
all by putting the mental
health needs of infants, children, youth, young adults and families
first.
Special
Olympics provides year-round opportunities in sports training and
athlete competition
for children and adults with intellectual
disabilities.
Special
Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual
disabilities can, with
proper instruction and encouragement, learn and
enjoy from participation in individual and team sports.
It is also
felt that through training and competition, Special Olympians will
benefit physically,
mentally, socially and spiritually; and that the
community - through participation and observation -
is united in
understanding people with intellectual disabilities in an environment
of equality,
respect and acceptance.
