Deacon William Callaghan Assembly #3358 was very proud
to provide an Honour Guard for the Knights of Columbus flag
raising ceremony in support of Special Olympics. The flag
raising was held in the Township of Scugog on Wednesday,
March 16 at the Durham Regional Police Services North Division
in Port Perry, Ontario. The purpose of the flag raising was as
part of the K of C sponsored flag relay to demonstrate our
continued commitment and raise awareness for Special
Olympics. K of C District 70 District Deputy David Robertson
organized the ceremony and Officer Hallett and Officer Fransen
raised the flag with dignity and precision. Also present were
Scugog Regional Councillor Bobbie Drew representing the
Township of Scugog, Grand Knight Kevin Chisholm from Sacred
Heart Council #15593 Uxbridge, Ontario; and Deputy Grand
Knight Brian Kavanagh from Immaculate Conception Council
#8951. Special thanks to DRPS, especially Giles Leriche,
who promptly fulfilled the request, and to Lynne Hebert, who
made all the arrangements with time and personnel.
